The next thing though caught me unaware. He began bragging that tribal tattoos really are the best. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not retarded. I do know what tribal means and I do know what a tattoo is.
What the two terms combined can mean though left completely clueless. After several painstaking seconds of googling it I found out that tribal tattoos are any tattoos that resemble the tattoo designs from the Polynesian tribes of the Pacific rim, that they are usually monochromatic and that they are very spread among the individuals with a serious identity problem.
The tattoo artists adore them though because they say that these can funnel a lot of creativity, but my guess is that they are so popular because they are ridiculously easy to make. Even I could do one with the proper tools.
But that would be stupid. A tattoo is a very permanent thing so following crazes and random styles really isn’t the way to go.
A tattoo should be a very personal statement, with a very personal history.
I do however have severeal tribal tattoos myself - some of them I live to regret.
So the next time you choose a tattoo design make sure that you won’t be embarrassed by it ten years from now.
I've added a few tribal designs below that I would like to see in real life:
